How it works

Every Nelford assessment follows the same path, whichever service you’re using: you tell us about your health, a human clinician reviews it, and you get a clear, individual decision.

  1. Find an appropriate service

Look through what Nelford offers on the Conditions hub and choose the service that matches what you need help with.

  2. Complete the secure clinical assessment

Complete the approved assessment for the service. Channels may include a secure online questionnaire, written messaging, a phone call or a video consultation.

  3. Human clinician review

A pharmacist independent prescriber reviews your assessment individually. No case is decided by automation alone.

  4. Further information if needed

If your clinician needs more detail to make a safe decision, they’ll contact you before going any further.

  5. Treatment decision

You receive a clear outcome. A prescription is never automatic or guaranteed - it’s only offered where a clinician judges it clinically appropriate.

  6. Dispensing and fulfilment

If a prescription is appropriate, dispensing follows the pharmacy route you choose, including your own local pharmacy. Nelford itself does not dispense, stock or deliver medicines.

What this means in practice

A prescription is never automatic

Fully automated prescribing is not permitted at Nelford. A pharmacist independent prescriber makes every treatment decision, and may decide that treatment is not appropriate for you.

We don’t claim a turnaround time we haven’t confirmed

How quickly your assessment is reviewed depends on the service and the information you provide. We won’t state a specific waiting time here until it’s genuinely confirmed.

You choose your pharmacy

Where a prescription is issued, dispensing follows the route you choose - including your own local pharmacy. Nelford does not dispense, stock or deliver medicines itself.

Caution: This is not an urgent or emergency service

If you need help quickly, don’t wait for an assessment response. See Patient safety for what to do next.
